Photographer, need something minimal for long distances

Like I said I'm a young photographer looking for a quest. I need something cheap that will take me half way across the country...not concerned (too much) about speed as MPG and reliability with the distances I'll be traveling. You're probably all laughing, rightfully so, but I have no clue where to being with purchasing a scooter that will allow me to do this...where do I start? Please just someone tell me if this scooter is out of the question:

I live in a hilly, rural area and want to get a scooter for local riding and errands. Definitely not highway riding. I've been reading all I can find on the internet but was hoping to get some advice.

There is only one shop in the area that sells scooters. I guess I could order one from the internet if I found a place to service it.

The local shop carries Kymco (they currently have a 2007 people and super 9) and they are expecting a yamaha 125 in soon. I think they...

Since I'm new to this, I wanted to see what everyone else thought. I dropped my scoot off last sat. for the 1000 km maintenance and to figure out why my turn signals, horn, electric starter, and fuel gauge stopped working. The electrical stuff is under warranty, but the regular maintenance is going to be around $100. $70 an hour for scooter mechanics? Is that just because there are so few of them around? Thanks for all the great advice everyone! really helped me come to find the scooter I wanted... whcih is now in my garage assembled!!

(I do have one small problem tho... I just started it up a while ago -it ran well. started it up again about 30 minutes ago and rode it down the street a couple times and on the 3rd time I was going 15mph and it just died on me and I couldnt get it to start again. it was turning when I was pressing the start but it wouldnt start up.)

Stolen Vespa 125PX

Hi all I had my 1979 Vespa 125PX stolen from Milton Keynes on the 3rd Sept. It is sprayed pink (triumph nuclear red). I know the chances of it being found are very slim but I'm determined to at least try. The registration was HDD 30V. Engine No VNL3M/74916 VIN No: VNX1T/46644.

Well Its now almost a couple months till winter hits and I still have no scooter on the road. My job cut me back alot of days so i'm barely making money like I should be doing. I've had to get a second job which I have yet to start because my license hasn't come in yet so it looks as if i'll be riding my scooter next year now. I know, im a forms blabber mouth.

Im excited though about many a things. I finally finished college last Friday. I officially have a somewhat useless animation degree and will be in debt for a very very long time.
To celebrate I went to see Crispin Glover perform. I also went to Dragon Con to party with my scooter and nerdy friends. I got to see some "famous people" at the bar which to me only means on thing: FREE DRINKS!

I really hate my kids...

Got a fuel leak when the tap is in the on position on my GTR. So off with the sidepanel, off with the carb-box lid, off with the lid of the carb, get the float out, that all seems fine, need to take the needle jet out, can I find a small flat screwdriver, can I fuck.....

New scoot Maintenance??

I just got a new 150cc scooter, but I'm not sure about maintenance.

Someone told me that at 250 miles I have to change the oil and change the drive fluid/oil. Then get an oil change every 1000 miles after that.

Can anyone confirm this, or is there a different schedule of maintenance?

Also, are there any other maintenance steps that need to be taken in the early stages of a scooter's life?

That Jez Bird, aged 50, passed away on Wednesday (August 27) following a battle against cancer.

He was the former lead singer of the 80s mod band "The Lambrettas", and a very popular performer in the town where he had lived since the age of seven.
