Newbie seeks retro-style Vespa (or similar) for commute/leisure in Leeds.

Hi.

Fell in love with scooters years ago and finally I'm going to get one. Was thinking of PX125 or T5.

Any recommendations, please?

Have toyed with idea of a 50cc but then don't want to wish I had more speed/power later down the line.

Budget no-more than £1000.

Any help much appreciated.

badly need some help as my Vespa PX125 is sitting in my back garden doing nothing.
I was riding down the A13 when the scoot started to splutter and then stopped a couple of times, I managed to get her home but then nothing, there is compression and fuel going to the carb but not starting.
I have changed the HT leads, the spark and the regulator and also as a last ditch chnaged the stator plate. Now it just whines when I try to start it with the elec ignition or grates when I kick it...

PX125 running probs

Morning all,
I working on a 1984 125 PX, standard set up with a Simonini exhaust. The problem is that once running, the engine starts to run away and increase rev's without throttle increase!
I've cleaned and stripped the carb and all works well with no blockages etc, but it still runs on!
Anyone got any other ideas please guys!

Does anyone know how to get the flywheel off my Vespa PX125.
I have been told I need a special tool but I cannot find one anywhere.

hey, I'm in the process in getting a scooter. i love the look of the Vespa PX 125 and when researching them i came accross the LML Star. this essentially seems to be a copy of the PX and i believe is made by piaggio? it seems like a good scooter to me because it has all the same timeless styling but with a new engine with good MPG, it'll probably be reliable and all good stuff like that. my concerns are: A. are they actually any good? B. would i be hated if i turned up to a scooter...

hi im new to the forums & a bit of a novice when it comes to vespas . ive had my px125 for over a year now and it used to kickstart within 1 or 2 kicks. now im lucky if i can get it going within 7 or 8. im also having to pull out the choke to start it which i didnt have to do before. its reg is DK54.
when it gets close to starting im also having to pull back the revs to encourage it to start. its...

hi have noticed a problem with my px 125 sometimes as i go up hills there is a sudden lose of power now the other morning it cut out completely...i pulled over and it started straight away.i have a simonini exhaust on it is this the problem......thanks

as it says in the title i have just bought a 1967 sprint.

just a few issues with the scoot that i need a bit of help with as i have previously only owned lammys.

firstly the clutch is very tight and i would describe as fierce either on or off, very difficult to keep the front end on the deck during hill starts, some times its almost impossible to pull away others its just fine,any ideas on how to soften this, is it...

I have noticed a slight knocking noise from the rear of my scoot. I hear it more in 4th when passing walls and hedges. The faster I go the quicker the knocking sound.

Hi Guys,
I have a Y reg P200. I was riding it all weekend around the IOW and all was fine. Then on the way to work I have lost all my electrics. Engine still running ok so am a wee bit confused. The main fuse is ok and I have checked most of the connections and have given then a clean.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

New frame old engine?

Hi can any one help, i have bought a frame it's a 2005 so would have had a euro2 engine fitted i have an old engine c1990 can i fit this in the frame and put it in for it's mot or will it have to be a newish engine due to the emmision controls also can i fit my old forks in or will they have to be new disc brakes i know they are all standard fitting but is it ok to fit older parts to a new frame with regards to the UK mot thanks

Wondered if any of you lot had had a similar problem and what you did to overcome it.

I've just bought a 55 plate PX 125 from a mate.

It's been stood for a year without being run so I put fresh petrol in the tank, cleaned the carb, put a new plug in and charged the battery up.

The problem is........it starts up lovely but after 2-4 minutes it dies.

I had a similar problem on a P200E I used to have a few years ago and it turned out to be the CDI...

Sorry my first post is a daft question, but my search for an answer is the reason I found this forum. so here's my question...

Anyone fitted sundance grips to a PX200? I need some advice cos they're not a snug fit. I've thought about using electrical tape to build up the handlebar... is this a good idea? Any help appreciated.

So my New Rear Tire Jack came in the mail today.
The new Jack is great.
I thought it would take two people to put it
up on the Jack, but it was very easy for one person.
This jack can even fit in my glove box.

Hi all: just bought a new 09 Vespa S50. It's being delivered tomorrow and I want to break it in right. I've heard two schools of thought on the break-in: ride it like you stole it and ride it gently. I can't seem to find what Vespa actually recommends for its scoots. Anyone know?

Hi all,
Having introduced my self on the newbies forum, I have a problem
My Sprint Veloce 150, needed new cables, so I fitted them easily enough, however I 'm having a job setting them up!, The reason being when my batwing selector is in neutral, it still engages with what I think is 2nd gear. I'm assuming 1st gear is closest to the rear wheel? Can anyone advise please?
