Hi All,
Hope it's ok to blag some help from my first post without contributing anything I'm a VW Aircooled bloke posting on behalf of my neighbour who has the above bike and I'm trying to help him fit a new drive belt, but it's a nightmare... If someone could help it would be really appreciated...
We've fitted a new drive belt by removing the cover and the front pulley outer, but on reinstalling it and starting it up, the engine seems to remain in gear and shudders like crazy!
The rear variator (sp?) didn't seem to accept the belt properly and the sprung clutch at the rear pulley (variator) doesn't seem to return to original postion as if the clutch is disengaged and the belt is too wide leaving the engine engaged constantly. Does that make sense... lol...
The belt is definately the right one as I checked many parts websites and seems either too wide or to short? Is there any tricks to fitting these like warming the belt before fitting or am I missing an adjustment screw? Didn't think there would be one with a velomatic type engine as the rear pulley (variator) does that job by expanding with the spring in the clutch bit.
Thanks for any help in advance as we're pulling our hair out trying to figure out what we're doing wrong.

Cheers...
